The fishermen of Charleston, OR are still looking for an explanation for the collapse of the salmon fishery off the California and Oregon coasts.
The day we were scheduled to go out fishing (dungeness crab) with one of the crews, there were 70 knot winds and 30 foot seas so nobody was going out. We ended up tagging along on a maintenance run.
Its no mystery. What did they think was going to happen when they built dams that block the salmon from travelling, divert a large portion of water away from the rivers, and pollute what is left of the water?
