Mike Theiss of Ultimate Chase video documents Category-4 Hurricane Emily during the night hours in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The Yucatan Peninsula took moderate damage and the locals response to clean up was the best I've ever seen. Before the winds were completely back to normal the locals were clearing roads, fixing street lights and bascially doing everything they could to get transportation routes back to normal.
Hurricane Emily was the strongest Hurricane Mike had experienced at night but was also the least amount of video obtained. It was simply too dangerous to go out at night in a Cat-4 and document. The most memorable thing about Emily was the frequent cloud to cloud lightning inside Emily's eyewall. Even Thunder was heard on a few occasions...
Must of been one helluva gust to pick that plane up & slam it nose first into the ground

Was in Playa del Carmen in February 2005. So glad I wasn't there when Emily made landfall. Wow. Amazing capture, I, too, love the eyewall lightning. 5/5 stars and an addd to my faves.
