ITV in the Face: Yorkshire (3 of 3)

The shortest one I've ever done, because a) it only existed 35 years or so and b) they used the same boring ident for most of those years. Also the stupidest first two minutes I've ever made, so enjoy that too. Midlands next, I think, then another break, then another three.

SUPER IMPORTANT EMERGENCY UPDATE 2000! I am apparently a god damned LIAR. A chap named Steve explains:

"Sorry to pick you up on something as your In the Faces are fantastic but you claim YTV was given its theme tune and new graphics by Granada in 1998 this is not the case, the graphics without "On Ilkley Moor Bah Tat" ran 1995 and 1996. After this YTV used a shortened version of the channel 3 logo which occassionally they used the full version as can be seen in this link and they had a longer version of "On Ilkey". I know this too as I have an episode of Midsomer Murders and ITV Chart Show from 1997 both have the large Chevron revolving. (This was my fave YTV ident so I remember it well)."

In summary, don't pay attention to a word I say ever again.

You got confused. The "friendly"-sounding Yorkshire ident was used from 1993-ish to 1996. Then the "3" branding was introduced from 1996-2000-ish.

1:49 I don't think they were released at the end of 1998 becuae I have a video from 1998 (with recorded programmes) that have this ident (or end bored) I think it was Feb 1998

Funnily enough, I get Tyne Tees on my bedroom TV too! However, I didn't have a bedroom TV until late 2001, so TTTV's IVC had already long gone by then...

To me, YTV seems like the perfect balance of northern pretention and self indulgence (granada) and not having that much in the sense of metaphorical balls (tyne tees). Yorkshire television seemed like the mix of the 2, balls yet willing to negotiate somewhat...meh, i live in yorkshire :3
