I worked at a Sears from around 1985-1989, i recall them having some albums, but mostly selling cassettes and starting to get into selling a few CDs around that time frame. Then one day out of the blue they had us box everything up and discontinued their music department.
As far as the year of this commercial i would guess at least 1984 at the earliest. I did some quick research and found that Ricky Skaggs and Teena Marie albums were released that year.
That was when Sears sold records I remember back in the 1980's when they sold them and I can tell you that They had a good stock of records. I think you can buy them online only not in the sears department stores . That was the days . They also had cafeteria to serve you some food , it was very good .
Santa Claus looks like Dr. Gene Scott in that cowboy hat!
CDs were out at Musicland by that time, why aren't they shown here? I have Air Supply's Greatest Hits on 8-track, thanks to the RCA Music Club continuing to make them for several years after they'd disappeared from stores.
