What You Don't Know: Mission to the "Zoo"- Chapter 9!!!

Joe: (finally talks) You know that night in the snow...when you got hurt?
Nick: (tries to push the memory from his mind. Nods.)
Joe: Well that was a scary night and we almost lost you a couple times, and I remember that day in the hospital when I promised you that I wouldn't let you get hurt again.

Nick's flashback:

Nick: (slowly coming to conscienceness, he heard different beeps and buzzing around him. He heard some voices talking and thinks some of the people that were producing the voices left. He takes a deep breath and finally opens his eyes. He squints as he noticed how bright the white room was. He saw something move beside him but paid no attention as he tried to get his tired, heavy eyes to adjust to the light. Then he hears a soft and gentle, yet eager voice say his name.
???: Nick?
Nick: (He recognized that voice and slowly turned his stiff neck over to see who it was.)
Joe: (sitting next to him, his eyes full of hope) Nick? Can you hear me?
Nick: (nods his head slightly.)
Joe: How do you feel?
Nick: (looks around the room he was in.)
Joe: Nick.
Nick: (looks at Joe again)
Joe: You're in the hospital. You got shot during the mission we were on. Do you remember?
Nick: (everything sounded so familiar as it all came back to him) Where's Kevin and Jessi? (in an incredibly raspy, weak voice)
Joe: Oh they're fine.
Nick: Are you ok? Where's Mom and Dad? And Frankie? (all of these questions filled his recovering mind)
Joe: (soothingly) Nick listen, they are fine. Everyone is ok.
Nick: (begins to calm down)
Joe: (takes his hand) I am so sorry that this happened to you. It wasn't right.
Nick: (his heart broke as he listened to his brother blame himself) Joe. It's fine. Really.
Joe: No Nick, it's not.
Nick: (looks down knowing that he couldn't convince him)
Joe: I promise that I will never let anything like that happen to you again. I won't let you get hurt. I promise. (his teary eyes burned into Nick's as he held his hand tighter)

End of flashback

Nick: (the memory faded as he was brought back to reality by Joe grabbing his hand as he started to pad some alcohol onto his cut. It stung so badly! But he sucked it up and looked at Joe) Joe you don't have to worry about when I get a cut or something. Trust me. I'm not gonna die from this.
Joe: (looks at Nick and nods as he grabs a bandage and wraps Nick's hand.
Nick: (Thinking: I give up. He won't let it go.)

(the next day)
(Nick and Jessi are sitting on the couch and Nick has a guitar)
Jessi: How do you play a B chord? I never can figure it out.
Nick: It's ok. It's a difficult chord. Like this. (shows her and then strums) Voila! A B chord!
Jessi: So like this? (goes and sits right next to him, right behind the neck of his guitar and puts her fingers in the position) Now you strum. (a B chord comes out)
Nick: Perfect. Now try doing this. (plays a couple complicated chords up and down the neck)
Jessi: You know I can't do that!
Frankie: Hey guys? Why is there a black car outside our house?
Joe: What are you talking about? (texting on his phone)
Frankie: A man in a suit is getting out of a black car and coming up to our door.
Joe: Well don't ans- (he was soon cut off by the doorbell ringing and Frankie of course answered the door)
Man: Hello. Is there a Joseph, Kevin Jr., Nicholas or Jessica residing here?
Frankie: (looks back at them)
Nick: (shaking his head no to Frankie)
Frankie: (turns back to the man) Yeah. Come in.
Man: (walks in) Oh this must be them. Thank you young man.
Kevin: (ending his conversation on the phone) Alright. Love you too Dani. Bye. (hangs up) Can we help you?
Man: Are you Kevin Jr.?
Kevin: Yes and you are?
Man: Oh. My apologies. My name is Phil Brenton.
Nick: And why are you here?
Phil: To give you an opportunity of a lifetime.
Joe: And what would that be?
Phil: Well let me actually say another opportunity.
Joe: Another mission?
Phil: Yes. (smiling)

Woah! Another mission! What?! Find out what happens next!
