This Video walks you through creating a vector displacement in xnormal from Multi-res sculpting in Modo for use in Modo.

This mini-tut requires Xnormal which can be downloaded at:
http://www.xnormal.net

Mudbox can also be incorporated into this workflow. I will be adding an additional video incoporating Mudbox.

    Hi, I'm quite curious why you can't just bake it in Modo itself. Mode does bake Vector Displacements right?

    Cheers

    Nope, unfortunately Modo can not bake vector displacements. Modo has image-based sculpting which paints a vector displacment while you sculpt. However you can not bake a vector displacement from a hi-res to lo-res mesh within Modo. It will try, you will get some strange results but it won't actually work.

    Glad you like it! It can be a frustrating process but I think the results are worth it. If anyone has any trouble, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to clarify any specifics.

    Yes its kind of confusiong, but im just gonna message you here then if i want to ask something about this tutorial.

    And i just want to ask if you can make a tutorial of how can you texture a realistic face after you sculpt it on zbrush or modo, then rendered it in modo too including the lighting,

    and whats your website for your final renderings. I really love your work!! I really want to improve my skills regarding in modo.!

    Thanks!!

    @mstyle028

    Thanks! I need to get a site up, I don't currently have one. I should at least add more images to my gallery at Luxology.com. I'll try to do that this weekend. It would be easiest to ask any questions at the Luxology forum. I will paste the link in the video description, it won't let me paste it in this comment.

    That way I can go into greater detail if neccessary. There's not too much room for explanation in these comment sections.

    Thank you so much! I thought for sure I was going to have to retopo my mesh, would have taken at least 3-4 hours to do that. Xnormal solved the UV/ Ray errors I was getting in other apps. All I had to do was click on that Match UV button, Problem solved. Plus those vector displacements render really great in modo too.
