Brutus was one of the leaders, along with Cassius, of the conspiracy to assassinate Julius Caesar, which succeeded. Caesar's general Mark Antony and heir Octavian fought a civil war against Brutus and Cassius and defeated them at the Battle of Philippi in Greece. Brutus commited suicide rather than being killed as in the series Rome.
