So the upright in the corner... does that hide a counterweight to make it easier to raise and lower or is that structural support?

Well done! I have a shed with a loft and have been considering different options for a movable ladder to make the main shed access easier, but hadn't thought of one that just stayed up out of the way. I'd been thinking more of a rolling one so i could push it out of the way, or one that fit over pins that I could take down if necessary. Excellent.
