Rodeo bucks into Times Square as the world's top ten professional bull riders compete in New York. Here's more.

The world's top ten ranked professional bull riders show off their skills.

The arena, though, is in the middle of New York's bustling Times Square.

A big change for number two ranked bull rider J.B. Mauney.

[J.B. Maune, Professional Bull Rider]
"Looking around at all these big buildings with stuff on them going off and all the lights and everything, and people and cabs, it's a little different."

The event was the final competition before the 2010 Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas where the winner takes home one million U.S. Dollars.

But not all the spectators were thrilled at the event.

A number of protesters held signs and shouted accusations of animal cruelty.

Top-ranked bull rider Austin Meier said the protesters had the wrong idea about the sport.

[Austin Meier, Professional Bull Rider]
"Most of these animals get treated better than most people's house dogs. They are truly pampered athletes because that's what they are, athletes. We couldn't do our sport without them, and hopefully through more opportunities to meet more of these people, they'd understand that more."

And even the stardom of the big screen can't keep these bulls from their job - preparing to unseat yet another rider.

  • @KWCline91 i agree. someone should make a video on here explaining how its not cruel at all

  • Those protesters have no idea what Rodeo is. If they traveled down to Texas or wherever the Rodeo is held, maybe they'll have a better idea of what it is.

  • isnt it sad how people who dont understand anything about rodeo or bull riding can sit there and talk about how it is cruel and abusive when austin meier is right they do get treated better than the riders and house pets ive been riding for 5 years and can say first hand that RODEO IS NOT ABUSING THE BULLS, BRONCS, OR STEERS THAT ARE USED

  • animalleftist u r a ............ get a life treehugger

  • i def agree these animals are treated better than a house pet ... i love watchin bullriding compatisions

  • @AnimalLeftist there are athletes i ride bulls and broncs they are pampered they live in an open pasture lots of land to roam get treated well when travelin your a fukn idiot

  • "They are truly pampered athletes because that's what they are, athletes. We couldn't do our sport without them" Oh, please. Pardon me while I puke. The animals are NOT athletes, they are simply tormented, harassed and terrorized. Stupidest form of "entertainment" going..

    Just say whoa to rodeo.

  • Send them boys over to Wall Street, plenty of Bull on that side of town.
