This game is an embarassment to the startrek franchise. Gameplay looks dreadful. Who stands around shooting eachother till one or the other dies after a couple minutes? Where are the tactical elements?

I don't mean to come off as a psycho purist but isn't solving every situation by beaming down to a planet and shooting lasers at aliens kind of the exact opposite of what Star Trek is all about?

wau that was sooooooo frustrating to watch ~>_0~ just wander around and around and around randomly, then shoot at people again and again and again and again until the fall down.. and then some of them get up again so shoot them again.. and again.. then click on your crew members.. and i guess think about using their menus but then decide not to???? Then wander some more.. and shoot some more Klingons.. The best part of Star Trek in all versions was the PLOT.. the STORY.. the PEOPLE - NOT THIS.

@TheRenaff Combat has two modes that the player can choose from, shooter mode or RPG mode. :)

@DriveCrash Scrolled back to see what I said months back, but my point was that it's hard to be original. I wasn't saying it was copying WoW, I was defending the fact that the only similarities between the two are of those of the standard MMO.

@iaincollins well I guess we MMO players are too used to the medieval types of games and not used to innovative games...well I guess ppl can enjoy a diff game, nothing wrong with it =)

@cobrafizzo @Scratchy57 The space combat in STO is well regarded, and rightly so (it's certainly the most polished part of the game). Overall EVE is a much more accomplished game, but I find the hands on flight mechanics of STO make it much more enjoyable. Sadly, STO PvP doesn't support anything like the numbers of players in PvP seen in EVE (although there are areas - Fleet Actions - which support PvE space and ground battles on an epic scale, so you are kind of left wondering why).
