Cry Freedom is a 1987 feature film directed by Richard Attenborough, set in the late 1970s, during the apartheid era of South Africa. The film was shot in neighbouring Zimbabwe, and, although not banned in South Africa, cinemas showing the films were faced with bomb threats. According to the Internet Movie Database, the film was seized by authorities on July 29, 1988. In some cases, there were reports that prints of the films were wrenched off the cinema projectors and the film remained unseen in South Africa until 1991.

well, it depends, but they do not portrait donald woods as a racist, what i hate is the way in how afrikaaners are defined, absolutely NOT all the people where like that, just the government.

Steve Biko is a hero, a saint like Mandela. However I hate the way that films of this era portray white South African's as mindless racists.

The story isn't focused on the journalist, but the relationship and the courage it took both men to stand up for what they believe. They both took risks, chances and changed each other for the better. This is a remarkable story and were it not for Woods, you would have probably never known of Biko.
