The instrumental version of The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia by Reba McEntire.

He was on his way home from Candletop
Been two weeks gone and he thought he'd stop
At Web's and have him a drink for he went home to her
Andy Wo-Lo said hello
He said "Hi what's new?"
and Wo said "Sit down I got some bad news that's gonna hurt"
Said I'm your best friend and you know that's right
But your young bride ain't home tonight
Since you been gone she's been seeing that Amos boy Seth
Now he got mad and he saw red
Andy said boy don't you lose your head
Cause to tell you the truth I've been with her myself

That's the night the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hand

Well Andy got scared and left the bar
Walking on home cause he didn't live far you see
Andy didn't have many friends and he just lost him one
Brother thought his wife must've left town
So he went home and finally found the only thing
Daddy had left him and that was a gun
He went off to Andy's house
Slipping through the back woods quiet as a mouse
Came upon some tracks too small for Andy to make

He looked through the screen at the back porch door
He saw Andy lying on the floor
In a puddle of blood and he started to **shake**

The Georgia patrol was making their rounds
So he fired a shot just to flag 'em down
And the big bellied sheriff grabbed his gun and said
"Why'd you do it?"

The judge said guilty on a make believe trial
slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile
and said supper's waiting at home and i gotta get to it

That's the night the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hands

They hung my brother before I could say
The tracks he saw while on his way
To Andy's house and back that night were mine
And his cheatin' wife had never left town
And that's one body that'll never be found
You see little sister don't miss when she aims her gun

That's the night the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hand

That's the night the lights went out in Georgia
That's the night that they hung an innocent man
Don't trust your soul to no back woods Southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town's got bloodstains on his hand

  • Some people wer complaining that this video didn't have any lyrics, and I'd want lyrics, too, if I didn't know the words by heart. So here they are! (BTW, you called this a Reba song. I adore Reba, but this song was Vicki Lawrence's) :

He was on his way home from Candletop

    Andy Wollo said hello

And he said hi, whats doin Wo

  • man you people don't pay attention before typing! The info for this VIDEO SAYS!!!... "The instrumental version of The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia by Reba McEntire." & that's EXACTLY what this IS! I know that the ORIGINAL was by Vikki hell you can find it here on youtube, BUT this IS the REBA VERSION not Vikki's. So, thanks for the info I already knew. hopefully this cleared things up for you. & ALL my videos are not for Amature singers who don't know the song by heart.

  • I did enjoy this. Thank you so much. :) I'm glad I'm not the only one. I mean that in today's world its hard to find someone that will venture outside of the "hip" I remember when my mom bought the tape for me when I was 11 yrs old. She knew I used to sneak out of bed at night to try and record music from the radio (usually get a better signal) I'm 31 now. who ever thought I would be old one day. haha..... we learn (live) so much. :)

  • I enjoyed your comment bery much I am glad you enjoyed singing to it.

  • <3!!!!

  • To all of the people who are complaining about this vid not having lyrics...

    READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR ONCE

  • To all of the people who are complaining about this vid not having lyrics, it does...and even if it didn't get off your lazy butt, and do it yourself than, if it matters that much to you. Goll!! :)

  • It's quite annoying that most people one here can't read. The lyrics are in the description, for heavens sake!!!!! I'm a 12 year old and I can clearly see that!!!!! Anyways, I appreiciate you posting this, this is one of the very few songs I can sing right with the karaoke(most songs I need to sing acapella or with the words because with karaoke strangely my voice usually gets weaker...)

  • Lyrics would be very beneficial. xD

  • ii was at karaoke the other night and one of my friends asked me to sing this. i had to tell him i didn't think i new the song well enough to stumble through. they are in trouble next week b/c this will be on my list!! thanks (for the lyrics too!!)

  • Why

  • It wasn't when I posted that

  • it's in the description...der
