After a long break, more cute and crazy commercials from Korean cable and satellite TV.
1) The 2008 SM3 car, obviously not for economy-minded Koreans: 'without being mean, go for broke!' says the voiceover.
2) Boy and girl in a field: she is quite happy for him to bounce her on his feet, but when he complains of tired legs ('Even love needs Vitamin C!'), all he has to do is take a Vita 500 energy drink and he's saying, 'It's not difficult for me!' Cultural note: at the end, he asks her, 'Where shall we go?', to which she replies, 'Hong Kong!'. 'Going to Hong Kong' means being incredibly happy in Korean.
3) What a surprise! A loan company!! (Koreans typically need a deposit of anything from £5000 upwards to secure a flat). 'Lead Cup: total interest for new customers: maximum 49%...Lead Cup is beginning! Use Lead Cup now!' However, the on-screen title warns: 'Making credit enquiries and obtaining loans through credit agencies can lower your credit rating'.
4) Self-explanatory: 'Ready Meritz, Merry Meritz!', implying that they are prepared for all accidents.
5) Digital camera Cyber Shot T: 'When you smile, it takes a picture...automatically and as if by magic'.
I will upload more of these when I get the time. Visit my blogs at http://festivefifty.blogspot.com and http://iwishitcouldbechristmaseveryday.blogspot.com

  • never mind, i found it.

Rush Cash commercial saying something along the lines of: 'isonghe gugongmhe'

    Thanks anyway.

  • 'Going to Hong Kong' means being incredibly happy in Korean....

and it also means orgasm :)

  • The first ad is for a Renault Samsung car. Renault Samsung is, I believe, the 3rd largest auto maker in Korea. It'll be some time before we see their cars in the U.S. I think.

  • cool
