I love Scotland :D x

My grandmother used to recite this to my sister and I when we were little - she knew most of his stuff off by heart and adored the man.

the celts have such interesting traditions and they're undoubtedly among the best of story tellers. i saw a video showing a story teller in a pub in ireland. i think all bars every where should feature such people. it would be fun and interesting to hear stories told by good story tellers in stead of just sitting around drinking. makes for a more interesting passage of time. may be not more productive - but more fun.

@dfpv3 : He was probably writing it as a cautionary tale to himself... Speaking as a sex obsessed drunk, myself.

So good to hear this tonight on Burn's birthday. Thanks.

I remember for Higher English, my teacher decided to choose this poem. Actually we all decided it wasn't a poem it was a short story! I remember how much i had to remember of this. It was crazy.

I'll remember alright, at least for the next 15 minutes or so. Any later, can't guarantee it.

Yeah - "don't get drunk or chase women because your horse might lose its tail" - is certainly a powerful cautionary story. Especially coming from a famous womanising drunk (Burns, not me).
