I can't help but cry whenever I hear this piece. It's... I don't even have words to describe.

The pianist here is so very gentle. What a combination of sensitivity and grace.

im playing this as a solo at our schools next concert (:

He came to the U.S. in the 1970's with other kids from a Shanghai music school. He walked very quickly onto the stage to solo, wearing pants a little short and shoes a little big, a sign of China's economic condition then. He played Sicilienne by Maria T. von Paradis. I was thoroughly impressed. Yes, Issac Stern discovered him and may have nurtured him along the way, too. Thanks, Mr. Stern.

@jwunschie14 I have heard him. I have even been to his concert in Tallinn. It is just not my style, my understanding of music...

@Jekatherina Please...please listen to Truls Mork and his suites before you ever consider Maisky to be your epitome of music making. His Schumann is on youtube, and is excellent

Isaac Stern was right when he went to China and pick out the next great cellist.
But little did he know that he picked someone who later turned out to be the greatest.
