I guess you didn't hear, they kept it SUCH a secret :-) World-famous Southern Pacific "Daylight" 4449, the sole surviving streamlined 4-8-4 (GS-4 class) steam locomotive built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941, made its way across the country in July 2009 to pull trains during the Train Festival hosted by Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, MI. Original plans were for one round trip with 4449, but the response was so overwhelming, a second trip was added after the announcement. Here, you have two days of the best runby footage I was able to get as the 4449 ran over Great Lakes Central (ex-Tuscola Saginaw Bay) between Owosso & Alma, MI, you'll likely know each spot on sight with somewhere around 30,000 people covering the lay of the land during the event...and I accept NO responsibility for the background chatter and/or helicopter noise, which I think I was able to edit around fairly well (some folks just made noise no matter what!).
Oooo that's like a while from where I live but we got a brochure in the mail I was busy

Sticking brakes on one of the coaches... tool car, I think... but overall, the trip went smoothly :)

Nice work. Thank you for using a tripod. Looks like some rough trackage here and there... No Genesis double-header: often wondered why they didn't find an old F-Unit for dynamic braking?
