Dear Francisco,
At about 3:39 in yur latest video, you state your objection about the Pope wanting to "decriminalize"
homosexuality in the 21st century or thatis what I thought I heard. I can't imagine that the Catholic Church has changed its condemnation of gays. Surely you meant "criminalize". Please understand that I think your voice and accent are beautiful. No criticism is intended. If you misspoke, everyone does at times. Your commuity knows what you meant. The Lawrence decision of the United States Supreme Court some years ago only decriminalized the Crime Against Nature law in Texas where the case originated. Those laws are still on the books in several states that still have them, including
North Carolina where I live. I contacted the American Civil Liberties Union and learned that a defendant would have to litigate. Given the Supreme Court precedent in the Lawrence case, it is likely that the defendant would win,which would overturn the CAN laws in his state. However, the
obstacle is that few people want to risk a public trial for fear of harassment, losing a job, and other punitive, discriminatory actions. So the struggle will never be over. It's tiring to keep fighting but we must.
