You live a great life, hang out with your son, milking the cows, nice dog, great view. One day I want to leave this city and go to live in a farm. Good luck. I enjoyed your videos.

Mine was a red and white Holstien. I have some videos of her back from 2006 on my channel.

I am trying to re-learn as much of this stuff as I can. I cant wait to get my own land, we want chickens and goats, were thinking about cows but were not sure yet. My kids are have fun learning right along with me.

I love Dutch Belteds, although I've only met a few. When I had a heifer for 4-H a got to lead a little dutch calf around for one class.

What breed was the heifer?

How much milk do you get from each cow? Or more to the point how many cows would one need to provide the dairy needs of a family of five? Its my wife and my children two 7 year olds and one 5 year old and myself. Also whats the ratio of volume of milk to volume of milk by products like butter, whey, and cream.(what do you use whey for?)

The amount varies from cow to cow and decreases month by month after they have calved. Most dairy cows give aroun 3-5 gallons after calving. Butterfat varies by breeds. One cow should be enough for a family of 5 but there will be periods of time when the cow is dry.
