Taxi ride in Merida, Mexico

Local taxi takes Ellie and Jonathan back to Hotel Marionetas, where we parked our rented car. It was a very hot April morning in the Mexican city of Merida, the middle of the dry season. The city centre was impressive, with many beautiful, Spanish influenced buildings, painted an array of colours.

It's too bad you can only see a few of these in the vid (1:27) but this video shows what it feels like to ride a taxi down some local, small streets. Oh and it was hot.  Like 38°C or so. We drank plenty of water, and with the daytime breezes, stayed mostly comfortable.

@benzit0 We were there such a short time, it's hard to say. If you need a small, beautiful hotel in the centre of the city, i recommend Hotel Marionetas. You can see the front at the very end of the video.

btw, obviously carry pesos not dollars, correct?

@benzit0 Yeah, Pesos are the right currency. However, nearly any place we visited seemed willing to accept US dollars. The usual exchange rate was 1 USD = 10 MXN, about 20% worse than bank exchange rate. Being Canadian, we never really considered US dollars, not having any to withdraw or use, but we certainly saw signs with prices in USD.
