Hit ratio for the fight.
We need to appreciate the sportsmanship from these two guys.

Royce collapsed and suckered his opponents into the gaurd. They were just stupid enough to stay there and think they could beat him. After 2 years at a Gracie school I came full circle to my original conclusion - BJJ is not a strong takedown art.

Yeah, no. I watched one of the Gracie's fights (I forget which one) where he literally scooted around on his ass kicking his opponent in the calves until his opponent caved and went to the ground with him...unlike what Anderson Silva does, which is just walk away until the ref makes them stand up.

Sambo is more street oriented in my opinion whereas BJJ was born out of a sporting environment. Honestly I've never used BJJ in a street fight. Of the two street fights I've been in in the past 20 years neither has gone to the ground at least with the extent of me following someone to the ground. It was over when the dude hit the ground. I view BJJ as a last resort damage control when you get in a sucking position. It's not good for offense.

Yep, Cung Le probaly won't fight Wanderlei Silva again either - but I'd pay good money to see it!

Good fight. Cung's kicks are lethal, but Frank's punches were pretty powerful too.

    Thanks for the post.

The best way to finish a guy on hard pavement is to slam them into it preferrably with you on top using them as a cushion. Concrete changes the name of the game if you are throwing. Most BJJ guys I know and have trained with try to collapse into the guard because they suck at takedowns.

I agree in the context of an MMA event. But the Gracies originally billed BJJ as the "superior streetfighting art". A real fight is vastly different than an MMA event. Generally in a real fight when fight or flight has kicked in both opponents are going for the gusto and the fight rarely lasts past the 15 second mark when one of the opponents is pounded into a pulp and the pounder collapses for lack of oxygen. I've not seen too many submissions on the street.
