@pianor91 You don't think that possibly Robert Altman told him to play it that way? Fry wasn't directing, after all.
-
Don't applaud, you'll encourage him!

@pianor91 hmm I don't think so, the characters are not supposed to like him very much anyways so I think it fits. It is a comedy movie anyways, dark comedy.

@MDkid1 I thought Stephen Fry ruined the whole atmosphere of the film. It's like someone told him it was a farcical comedy, when then the rest of the cast were told it's a serious murder mystery. Felt completely out of place when he comes in.

I always felt that Ryan Phillipe looked kind odd in that role and didn't really fit with the whole ambiance and ensemble of the film...but then again, I guess thats the point! lol

Ivor Novello was a great song writer but apparantly he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket according to his friend and fellow Welshman Richard Burton

I'm sorry, but I like Johnny Mathis' version, much better. My Mother had Johnny Mathis' Live in Las Vegas album, way back when, and I used to hear this song quite often.

LOL this song is hilarious! I love the end where the mother faints then they think they are finally alone but then her mother "came too" lol This is a great movie and of course any movie with <3 Jeremy Northam<3 in it I watch. He is so hot. I love his voice with a passion *sigh*

@MANFROMMARS46 If that is your goal...then I must say...you are spot on!

This vintage song is a hoot, and JN performs it wonderfully. Thanks!

I thought Jeremy was fantastic singing the songs in Gosford Park. I've recently seen him playing Dean Martin and he was awesome.
