  • Bob ruled but I still think Pleased to Meet me has some of thier best songs. Paul was a great guitar player. Just not quite a maniac like Bob was

  • @KeepitExternal Well put. I love PTMM and it's probably top-3 for me, although maybe it falls short and sits around 4. I really go through phases of loving Hootenanny. But anyway, you put it well when you said that he just wasn't quite the maniac Bob was.

  • Where'd you get this? From the Pleased to Meet Me Deluxe thing?

  • the replacements give me goosebumps

  • never heard the demo, awesome!

  • @scumgod13 Mine too, I loved the two together. I heard he got a little on the psychotic side? I seen Paul solo in '93? small hall here in St. Louis and had friend who got us great seats, I was ready... Paul gets to the mic and falls out from an O.D. of Pain Killers etc. I got over it and still love him as I did at 19, these outtakes are great! Thanks

  • @matthewprokes Wow, some of the stuff I listen too would shock you then.Lucinda Williams,Cowboy Junkies to AntiSeen and MOTORHEAD!Everything in between. The Mats have a very special place in my heart.I was 19 and come home from work my girlfriend of 2 years had cleaned everything out of the house and was gone. Then the next week my band broke up.I sat in my room with no bed and only a few CDs which was Tim, hootenanny and Sorry Ma,then all my heavy stuff I wasn't up to.I listened to TIM nonstop!

  • @scumgod13 you never struck me as a mats type of guy scumgod.thought you were more into the hardcore stuff gg etc. good for you tho. any fan of the mats is cool in my book

  • the Replacements lost a big part of their sound by parting with Stinson.I don't know the story behind it.I first heard them in 1986 (I think) it was the album TIM and I fell in love with it,then I bought Sorry Ma,Hootenanny,Let it Be then I got Pleased to meet me in 88 maybe,I was a kid.Until I figured out that The Guitarist changed I just knew I didn't like as well.Still with either Guitarist they're in my top 10 bands of all time. They Changed My LIFE for the Much Better.

  • Thanks for posting this. My favorite Mats song. Never heard the demo before. Very cool.

  • used to cover this back in the 80's.... one of the most beautiful tunes ever written. tho i'm still bangin it out and I HATE nostalgia, wasn't this day and age fun? there is a real corporate feel and lameness to most tracks i hear now. with that said bravo Tommy. you always desrerved it. Tho you owe me a drink cos I tuned your guitar in 1995 at Coney Island High cos you were too fucked. Buy me a beer or ...simply NYC Again
