Rosalina: do you think I should go?
Sari: yeah! I mean this is the chance of a lifetime
Allison: totally. You need to go!
Rosalina: I’ll be gone for a while though.
Sari: would you really pass this up?
Rosalina: I don’t want to. But what will Nat think?
Nat: what will I think about what?
Rosalina: um…
Rosalina: about me going to a boarding school in England for the rest of 8th grade
Nat: WHAT?
Rosalina: I’ll be back for ninth grade!
Nat: rosie you can’t be serious.
Rosalina: …
Nat: why are you going?
Rosalina: scholarship
Nat: are you going?
Rosalina: I don’t know.
Nat: Rosalina.
Rosie: yeah?
Nat: I don’t want you to go
Rosie: I know
Nat: and you’re still thinking about going?
Rosie: well, yeah! I mean this would look great on my college application and I’ll be going there for free. And I’ll come back after the year is over
Nat: I’ll still be in middle school and you’ll be in high school!
Rosie: (sighs)
Nat: (really angry) I can’t deal with this right now!
He walks out and runs home crying.
He sits at the edge of his bed
Alex: can I talk to you?
Nat; about what?
Alex: well, you have a girlfriend and I figured you might be able to help me with my girl troubles
Nat: I’m not exactly an expert (sighs) me and rosie got into a fight
Alex: what happened?
Nat: she’s thinking about going to a boarding school in England for the rest of 8th grade
Alex: she’s actually thinking about doing that?
Nat: (tears in his eyes) yeah
Alex: I’m sorry bro.
Nat: yeah. Me too. So what’s your problem
Alex: well, I really like this girl but I don’t know if she likes me back
Nat: just take a chance and ask her out
Alex: yeah but what if she says no?
Nat: I just think you shouldn’t care if she does or doesn’t say yes.
Alex: I can see I haven’t asked the right person
Nat: what do you mean by that?
Alex: you seem too upset to give good advice.
Nat: whatever. I’m going to bed.
THE NEXT DAY
Rosalina: we need to talk
Nat: ok shoot
Rosalina: I’ve decided.
Nat: and…
Rosalina: I’m going
He walks away
IN DAVIS
David: hey Nat what’s wrong?
Nat: Rosalina’s leaving to go to a boarding school in England for the rest of 8th grade
David: and you’re ok with that?
Nat: no. I think I should break up with her.
