  • I'm interested in a step baffle with a rounded back. Now my Guadala MBII has a step but not a rounded back. Earlier Michael Brecker I mpc is that way. What will this do to the sound.? Can you tell me if my mpc can be machined or buy something similar?

  • @mgiaca

Rounding the back of the step baffle 'softens' the edginess of the sound. It is fairly easy to add this feature by rounding the back of the baffle with a file. I talked to Michael Brecker about this and the mouthpiece he actually played on did indeed have a rounded back to the baffle for this reason ;)

    Blessings, Theo Wanne

  • i need help with a question. im in concert band high school and have two mouthpieces: a ridenour cstar and a mouthpiece that just says it was made in usa that came with my vito. the ridenour has a bigger tip opening than the one that came with my vito. which one should i use for concert band?

  • @ThePsychoinferno Both pieces sound like they would be OK for concert band work. Thank you for the question.

  • What is a good suggestion for a more modern jazz sounding mouthpiece?

  • Thanks you for your interest in our mouthpieces. I would recommend the DURGA or KALI for a modern jazz sound.

    Warm wishes,

  • I flagged this video inappropriate; that man looks like a freak and just keeps rambling.

  • The DURGA rocks!!

  • Hell yeah, one step closer to becoming a disciple of sax-rolling!

  • That pink hat is so epic :D

  • @saxesrus Well I think Jody Jazz prices are, for the most part, cheaper. Sure, they can get as expensive as a Theo Wanne piece, but models such as the DV are $100 cheaper. I have the HR Alto mouthpiece and it's around $300 cheaper than a Theo Wanne HR mouthpiece.

  • @anwachukwu Expensive is an understatement, but what do you call Jody Jazz prices??

  • @ThePsychoinferno i too am in a highschool band, one of the top 50 in the country. if anything for a concert band, you want a mouth piece that has a bigger inside. i.e, the mouth piece should have a hollow area inside it. whichever one is bigger should produce a more rich, darker tone. but if this is not the case, you should use the one you and your band teacher thinks produces the best tone possible. also, be adjusting your embellisher at all times. that will as well effect your tone greatly.

  • Great info, Body and Soul is a little distracting...
