  • Well, the phopter just has lenses inside, that you can rotate or interchange, just like a trial frame. It's just more quick and convienient, and you can do much more various examinations with it.

  • i dont get the doctor is doing? i mean all he is doing is just spinning the light around

  • By moving the light in front of the eye, the eye doctor observes the light reflex from inside the eye. The size of the reflex and the speed of the reflex movement, are indications of the refractive error (myopia, for example). Unfortunately this retonoscopic light reflex from inside the eye, is almost impossible to photograph or film. So we can only demonstrate what the doctor is doing from outside the eye.

  • That was indeed a good laugh after a tiring day at work!!!

  • @tevpar Almost impossible but I was up for the challenge! Look on my page for some videos I filmed for a lecture I gave on retinoscopy this past February. Enjoy!

  • i was just wondering..is it possible if you could tell me how a phoropter works in relation to the properties of light? i'm confused about how this happens...

  • Punt neutre o que¿

  • I get now thanks

  • the doctor is shining a light into the eye to get an estimate of the refractive error (aka your prescription after the doctor interprets it). he spins the light to find what is the axis of your astigmatism. he also moves the light up/down or left/right etc to determine the actual numbers in the prescription. the length of the eyeball can determine what Rx you need. the light that bounces back from the retina is focused by different lenses. that's how we find what prescription works best

  • Interesting i didn't think they had Optometrists in Greece, just Ophthalmologists and Opticians/Technicians/CL fitters.

Is it an Ophthalmologist conducting the retinocopy?

Years ago when I was at university training as an Optometrist a greek student told me that there was no such thing as Optometry in Greece - Ophthalmologists undertake the work?? Is this still the case?

Much of your other vids=Contact Lens fitting, are you a Contact Lens fitter?
