  • Just recieved my Compagnon today. It says on one of the sides, in the blade base, acier rasoir on the other side it has the Thiers by Chambriard mark. Is this right?, it is suppose to be 12c27. Thanks for any help in answering my question MrDagon007

  • @hjphillips123456 It is probably ok. I cannot compare right now, I relocated abroad and my Le Compagnon should arrive in two weeks. Enjoy your elegant knife... and also try the Maserin Gourmet !

  • the Chambriard Le Compagnon is beautiful! I have no clue how to find this in Canada though.

  • @TheHellBound666 If you google for Couteaux Berthier you 'll find a French webshop that ships internationally. They have a very nice selection, you'll find several temptations. Cheers!

  • Thanks for the nice review and putting the effort in it. I was really pleased to find it on YouTube. My girlfriend and I just returned from France where we visited the Chambriard cutlery in Thiers. We bought eachother a Compagnion. Mine an 'Olivier', hers a 'Gaïac' whith corkscrew.

The manufacturer told me they designed the knive a bit wider then the slim Laguiole, to add rather then compete. In my opinion they did a really good job, I like it very much.

  • @Merktis It is still one of my favourites.

  • Its great to see someone reviewing some of the more classic european knife designs. Between France, Italy and Germany there really are so many great knives which often get ignored by the online knife community. Well done! (By the way - the patern on the spine of the Chambriard would probably be reffered to as "file work" in english. )

  • Hugely attractive knives. Definitely in my future purchases. Thanks for introducing me to them.

  • Thanks for your quick answer, hope your new location is better for you. Please keep the reviews coming !!!!

  • Just bought another Chambriard, already had the compact in snake wood. The new one, that is on it's way is a Compagnon with juniper handles, like yours (WorldKnives). Really like the style in this knives, thank for this excellent review and please keep them coming !!!!

  • I just received my case tony bose tribal spear in ebony - for similar use

  • I have "le compact"; total length of the blade is less than 3", good for UK as the police do not stop to measure only the sharpened length. It would be nice if Chambriard would make the "compact" with a corkscrew, as I would use it, and the corkscrew would add to the "I'm not a weapon" impression, the more so kept in its pouch in your pocket. While traveling, I mail a pocket knife ahead when I fly. I leapfrog this and the Moki Renaissance - wish the Moki were stiffer with détentes.

  • Wow the first Franch pocket knife is beautiful !!!

  • I love your view about these knives. I like the craftsmanship and tradition...so I too would prefer gentlemen knives myself. Now, I need to find a someone like you that do tomahawk reviews. A gentleman tomahawk anyone?

  • aha! i found out where you get some of your knives! world knives ltd!!!!
