WTV??? but thats in H.264 is it? i'm wondering if this defeats the purpose of having the 1212, it looks like it treats the 1212 like a regular tv tunner...
Do I still need a windows remote if I am going to be using firewire?

i have a question about your setup. i'm interestd in setting up the same thing but i'm concerned about any latency issues with my stb. Basically i want to watch hd on my win 7 mce but actually control my fios stb not through win 7 mce or the hd-pvr but directly with my stb remote. is it possble to do this and how fast are things like changing channels or accesing epg through stb?

You need to use an MCE compatible remote to control it through MCE box. I connect my MCE box to my STB through firewire cable and use fireSTB software to have my MCE box control my fios STB. 1-2 second lag but it works well for me.

a few more questions please, just to clarify when you say mce box you mean the hd-pvr? do you have the motorola 6416 hd dvr? what happens if you try to use the fios stb remote instead of the mce remote? does it still change channels? or mst you use firestb for this to work?

No mce box is your computer or htpc. MCE. I don't think the fio remote will work with IR blaster for MCE box that is why the MCE remote tries to learn your provider remote. I also want to use all the features of the MCE remote anyway. You have to use either firestb or the irblaster sensors that connect on to your STB which I don't like be of the massive delay and unreliability.

HI,
Can I use a USB-UIRT to change channels using the HD PVR 1212 and DVBLink? How can i set that up?
Also everything you record in Windows Media Center is in HD correct? what file extension? MPG4?

DVBLink only works with firewirestb and mce irblaster.
Mediacenter 7 currently uses the bloated WTV format to record but I heard there is a way to convert to the old format but haven't tried it yet.
