This tutorial covers some of the basics in creating a classic 'low-res' video monitor including scan lines, static and vignetting. The theme will continue in the next two parts, showing horizontal image breakup, frame flip (rolling screen), black bars and colour channel separation.

  • Maybe slightly pixelating it would help

  • @BrianMastermind If you want a pixelated look, just throw the Mosaic effect onto the source footage and crank up the columns and rows to just under the native resolution of the video.

  • wts called that effect in 0:17 - 0:18 . how u made it ?

  • @xStalkerCatx It's colour channel separation, and I show you how to create it in part 4 /watch?v=rUHOlMbkct0

  • hi thx for this gonna try using in my film, could you tell me how you did the colouring on the clip before you started please? have fcp with colour.

  • @forestpump Just play with the levels or curves to push the red channel down a bit and you'll get a similar look. Apply it to an adjustment layer if you're colour correcting multiple layers (beneath the adjustment layer).
