An early attempt at animating the first missing episode of the lost Doctor Who story 'The Moonbase'. I know it's hardly high-quality stuff, but it's better than nothing, and I'm sure some fans will like it!

EDIT: To all viewers who have accused me of plagiarism, please note the following:

1. The Moonbase was not written by me, neither did I claim it as my own story. In fact there is a 'written by' credit at the end of the last episode.

2. None of the voices were done my me. All of the voice actors are credited at the end of the episode.

3. The cartoon characters are quite obviously cut out from stills of 'The Invasion' DVD. I have made no attempt to hide the fact. It is mentioned on many of the comments (which incidentally I never delete - even the offensive ones). It is a splendid DVD set and I recommend it to everyone.

4. The BBC, Cosgrove Hall and 2-Entertain have no problem with my animation either.

4. However what I DO claim credit for is the many many hours it took to create the backgrounds, cut out the characters and attempt to synchronise their mouths with the audio, plus learning how to use a load of image editing and animation software.

If you don't like the animation, fair enough, I'm not going to try and change your mind. But the plagiarism argument simply does not stick!

  • No these are the correct ones. These titles were used until the Faceless Ones if I recall correctly.

  • this is really good. don't listen to what others have been saying, while it may be somewhat crudely done (completely understandable considering that it was just done in your spare time), it's infinitely more watchable than a recon and the way you've used telesnaps and other stock photos is really creative. i'd love to see episode 3.

  • @ryanbrownnew I think the best way to reconstruct, these missing episodes is do them in cartoon format like the Invasion and it would be ace in billions of ways.

  • @technonaught I agree it is better if the original audio of the original episode, is still intact to make cartoon versions of the two missing episodes of this story which would be ace in billions of ways if it can be achieved one can only hope so.

  • @CaptDingDong Folks talk about what a shame it is that some episodes are now lost for Dr Who. The same is also the case for many older Asian anime that are at best sitting in storage somewhere rotting away after decades! One series I wish could be found is TIME QUEST (TONDEKEMAN) that was sub in Hawaii back in the 80s. Has anyone got #7,8,12,20,23,32,35? Even w/o subs would be great. Also if anyone has a guide maybe they could help me ID 3 Japan episodes I have? TIME QUEST has time travel too!

  • @rojblake82 yes it would, but you are aware that the original audio of the original episode must still be intact if the BBC makes animated episodes. I mean, imagine an original episode of Doctor Who animated, awesome! But with some really lame voice replacements (or absolute silence), not awesome!

  • creo que esta animacion si se hiciera en 3d y luego le quitaran el color, sería clavado al live motion.

  • @rojblake82 It certainly would be ACE :)

  • @TheD0CT0RWH0fan I agree these lost and incomplete, stories should be made into cartoon form and released on dvd like the Invasion which would be ace in billions of ways.

  • It would be great to see the BBC do a full animated series, perhaps in the style of the Infinite Quest, with all the previous Doctors and companions getting turns at having new adventures. Most of the actors are still around to do the voice work, and this would be a way of taking existing Audio dramas and adapting them for television.

  • @AloraCinemaGameRoom I saw this, looking for The Invasion story, and it brought me here. Saw the title then the animation, and I thouhgt, WTF? This is a rip off.

What BBC should be doing, is putting those stories that are incomplete and doing what they did with The Invasion story.

  • know the best way to reconstruct Dr Who but it would be expensive and time consuming..what you do is re-film new actors miming (but acting well) to the original soundtrack.. but here is the brilliant bit.. all the actors would be wearing prosthetics to look like the original actors.. then finally the whole thing is rotoscoped in full colour exactly like the film "A Scanner Darkly". Have a look at clips of the film "A scanner darkly" and compare that in stlye to "telesnaps".
