In this lesson, I'll show you castles for Double Swinging Rook.
# I call Swinging Rook as "Ranging Rook" in this video, because that is the most common name used by English speakers. However, I change the title to "Swinging Rook" due to my personal preference.

  • Great Videos!!! Will you talk about basic strategies and things to look for in a game?

  • Thanks!

Of course. I'll talk about basic strategies in the future. But I have some other things that should be explained before that, so you'll have to wait for a while.

  • You can play a human-to-human shogi game on-line in several places. Please google "PlayOK", "Brainking" or "Richard PBEM", then you will be able to find the on-line game sites where you can play shogi.

  • Thanks, takodori-san!

I think I should make a video that presents many on-line game sites.

  • @hirohiigo I see, thank you!

  • @0Fingolfin0 It is good, but double ranging rook games usually involve rapid attacks, and you don't have time to build silver crown.

  • I have a question, isn't Silver Crown good for double ranging rook games?

  • Feel dizzy with learning about all of these castles in one day. So many my gosh it seems endless.

  • I started watching your video series a few days ago.

And I have to say that your way great way of teaching shogi, mainly focused on the western world, has made me learn a lot more about the game than when I was simply researching the Internet, you show things most non japanese don't have access to.

    Thank you very much.

  • Great lessons Hidetchi. They have helped me a lot.

  • 7c pawn can advance in peerless gold castle and silver can take it's place? oh, but then the opponents 5b pawn can advance and be troublesome...never mind. S7a?

Don't worry, i'll always keep watching your vids ^^. arigatö, Hidetchi-san.

  • I often forgot the captured pieces too in my 1st day learning shogi, and now, 2 days latter, I can play well summoned moves ^^.

  • thanks hidetchi.

your videos.... range from for newbies to advanced players. the opening videos are too advanced for me. this how to play series from 17 to 29 will occupy me for a long time to learn strong basics.

best of health to you and your loved ones + family.

    cheers!

  • OMG LOL I suck at castling, up till now I still cant beat my com on easy D: All my castles get broken in to D: I keep thinking this is chess and I keep forgetting my pieces in my "piece jail" ._.
