Regan Richert, #12 MB, on Bakersfield Volleyball Club (coached by Judy Rexroth) playing against Club Utah in the Far Western JO Qualifier.
An excerpt from John Tawa's article about this game:
"Club Utah earned its bid by taking second in Pool 1, but it wasnt easy. After dominating Sports Shack to
improve to 1-1 (Utah lost to Vision, 25-22, 25-17), Club Utah needed only to defeat Bakersfield to place in the
pool, something that should have been easy given that Sports Shack swept Bakersfield and that one of
Bakersfields top hitters, Caitlin Bernardin, went down with an ankle injury early in the day.
But volleyball yields interesting results sometimes. Club Utah broke open a close first set to win, 25-19, but
Bakersfield, behind OH Kelsey Fien and MB Regan Richert, took the second. If Bakersfield could find a way
to win Game 3, a three-way playoff for second would be the order of business in this pool as well.
Richert was exceptional for Bakersfield, but Club Utah took control of Game 3 thanks to a Nicole Koehle block and extended its lead to 8-4 at the switch on Kaitlyn VanHoffs overpass kill. OH Chelsey Schofield,
who was battling a fever and body aches all day, came up big late for Club Utah. Her final kill sealed the 15-
10 win."
