One dead, one wounded in Brockton shooting

BROCKTON — One person is dead and another wounded in a shooting this evening on Essex Street.

Both victims were shot on or near the driveway of 10 Essex St., a three-story, multi-family house in a neighborhood on the southern end of Brockton. Both victims were male; their ages and names were not immediately available. The call came to police reporting gunshots just after 5 p.m. At least five Brockton cruisers rushed to the scene, and then began circling neighborhood looking for possible suspects.
State and Brockton detectives cordoned off a section of the street and were examining the area looking for possible evidence. Detectives were searching the street by flashflight for evidence. At least one ambulance left the scene, escorted by an unmarked police car.
