This one means a lot to me.

I've gotten to perform this piece of beautiful musical literature with the rest of my high school's top band; the piano part to be specific. It's such an amazing piece to listen to, and it's great how it brings back some cool memories of everything that went on my junior year.

Mackey's writing is as glorious as ever here, too. It's so interesting for me to take such a close look at every detail in his music; a bit more interesting to see if I can manage putting it all in a simple software that isn't made for this kind of music at all. I only tried my best to make it sound the way I wanted it to, so hopefully I didn't miss anything important.

I began this on the second of June and finished two days ago (it's really time consuming getting a video this huge uploaded), so this only took 23 days. I guess I just got so used to reading scores after Asphalt Cocktail or something. Not to mention summer break is here, too, but still... I just think that's hilarious.

The tempo is pretty constant at 5455 - 8571 (it's a huge tempo gap, everything between those two numbers plays through Mario Paint Composer exactly the same), but it moves up the the 8571+ tempo gap as well as in the 5001 - 5454 tempo gap. Soundfont is original.

Still having a lot of fun with this stuff. I've kept telling myself in the past when I upload huge songs like this that I seriously don't think I'm going to ever do any better, but that's never turned out to be the case for the past two years.

I can't wait to find the breaking point for this program. It's gotta explode at some point with how borderline I'm getting with its limits. ;;

  • Yes please. Hahaha well this is my first time to NOT perform a piano solo, and there's so many different tempos in that song :( So yeah like when you first practice with the whole band how did you keep up with it? & can you tell me everything pretty much hahaha

  • @1004Cookie there shouldn't be any tempo changes after letter E until the rit. and molto allag. at the very end

this song was the first time I ever played piano in a group, so I had a lot to get used to. I wouldn't say I kept up right away lol

the beginning of the piano part is really easy as long as you get good with counting the rests and I did almost every sixteenth note run with two hands even though it was only on one staff (exceptions when there were left hand parts)

  • @1004Cookie a lot of the double octave stuff on the right hand (A-flat, G, A-flat, B-flat, E-flat, B-flat) can be played with just the lower octave since the higher range is always covered by the bells

honestly, the trickiest part for me to get used to was getting to those really really low notes so fast between parts (like the 8th and 9th measure after letter R and pretty much the whole end section)

it honestly took a lot of practice to really get down but it's so much fun lol

  • Hey! I'm playing the piano part for this too, can you maybe play the piano part and put it on YouTube? This is my first time playing with an orchestra and I need help ):

  • @1004Cookie oh gee lol I hope I can remember everything

was there any part in specific you were having trouble with? I can tell you how I got through everything and maybe that'll make me helpful to you

  • While listening to this made me tear up.....our school did this song for marching season......those were some pretty good times. Although we'll never be able perform that show again, the memories we had is something I'll never forget:) Brings back incredibly great memories:)

  • @PikaBuwie you wouldn't happen to be in south texas, would you

i saw an aurora awakes marching show during a football game halftime show from the other school

I've said this before and I'll say it again. You've outdone yourself. The fact you did all this on MPC is just simply incredible. I wouldn't be able to point out a single flaw if I tried. It doesn't even need more fucking cowbell. It's perfect.

  • Jesus this was both annoying and a fucking blast to record, had to go offline on everything to prevent people from ruining the recording, not to mention I had to restart it twice (both times at around file 110~ no less, lmao). But hot damn, this was incredibly beautiful to listen to. By the time I finished, I was thinking "Did balloob really just make a 11 minute song his bitch...?"

Fantastic work as always, balloon. You've really outdone yourself.

  • Congrats on Song of the Year!!! Very, very well diserved. I've never heard anything close to this effect on Mario Paint. Definetly a tear-jerker.

  • @balloon303 Nope! Not from Texas! Neither did we perform there, but whoever was able to perform this show was very lucky!:)

  • Watching this just inspired me to try to compose MY favorite concert band piece. It's funny because the first time I heard your recreation of this it made almost no impression on me because I was listening to it in the background but watching the effort you put into this makes a world of difference.

I wish my band teacher would pick awesome music like this to play instead of bullshit 50s freeform shit like George Washington Bridge and Canzona (which he wants to do for adjudication -_-)
