Joaquin Phoenix looks exceptional. Philip Seymour Hoffman looks exceptional. The scenes they shoot together look exceptional. Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most brilliant modern filmmakers. I can't imagine this movie going poorly.

Book 2 was mainly his book History of Man. It was also Dianetics from the original thesis & Excalibur which was supposed to be as deadly to people reading it as the OT3 Xenu wall of fire with body thetans. Pick a point was an Ot1 exercise of spot a person etc a bit like the objectives exercise for PCs. The Producers may deny this to pacify Tom Cruise who was furious when LRH junior said he was making stuff up like History of man which Hubbard used his sons memories of the 'clam' & the 'weeper'.
