"What are your thoughts on a national sales tax." Not a vert tough question and he bombed.

Very well said!

Absolutely not true. Baby Boomers and retirees would actually benefit from the Fair Tax.

MarkDouglasC, spamming again? Still being rude and obnoxious? Still calling people names? Anybody who watches these Fair Tax video's has to see that you spam all of them. People who really want to know will read about it at FairTax dot org, or read the book. The majority of people who take the time to read about it, like it very much.

As a baby-boomer I would like to thank the person who worried about me being taxed twice.
While it is true that I paid tax on the money I have saved, and would be taxed again when I spend it, I try to live off the income, and the income would not be taxed.
Besides the FairTax will be so good for the next generation, I am happy to make the sacrifice.

One post raises the specter of retailers not paying the tax they collect to the government.
Most retailers will pay the tax for the same reason they pay local sales taxes now: to avoid tax on the purchase of the goods they sell. Those tax exempt purchases are reported to the government.
Those selling illegal products, who currently pay no tax, will at least pay tax on the goods they buy.

Yes it is a dumb bad idea. Small Business owners will scam the system by not recording some sales and not remitting the 30% NST. Yes, guess who is backing this idea? And guess why they want no IRS? You got it they want to skim off some of that extra 30% NST. for themselves.

The FairTax is monumentally unfair to retiring Baby Boomers. People who have paid 1/4 or 1/3 of their income in taxes for 40 years will now have to pay an equally high tax on all the after tax income they've managed to put aside for their retirement. Every time Boomers buy anything with their lifelong savings, they'll be double taxed. And the 23% is a LIE in the book it is a 30% National Sales Tax + X% local sales tax.

Sometimes I wish the Democrats would give HR25 a new name and number, and change the gramar a bit. Then maybe they could say it was their idea and we'd get it passed.
Trevor sucks.
