You may also want to consider using a boning knife. The thinner, flexable blade makes those shallow cuts on the breast much easier to control.

Good stuff brother. You bone a bird like I do...
-
Good to know you and Charly don't have to fight over the one heart.

DUDE!! Whole chicken here in Manitoba is over 3 bucks a pound The breasts are over 8 bucks a pound. YOU LUCKY BUGGER!
-
THANK YOU!
I totally agree with you, it's called common sense. If it gets heated won't it heat/sterilize everything else with it? Besides why do a bunch of unnecessary steps, if you don't have to? Good vid.

@LowBuckPrepper they do heat up its supposed to heat it gently and evenly just by softening it. I've only been canning for 4 years so I dont wing it with the rules yet, just too scared to lose any. Iv'e even seen people can in water bath for veggies As for me, Those jars are expensive and its just too gross to think of cleaning out a bad one, I'd rather toss it. The other factor is someone getting sick from something you cant see. You know how whinney kids get when are dying lol

Hell yes you can can off grid im going to try it in my solar oven

dang!!! whole chicken here in Indiana is like 1.29 per pound. We are lucky to see 89 cents per pound on sale.
you dont heat the lids to sterilize, you heat it to soften the gasket for a great seal.

@preparedchipmunk are you saying they won't heat up in the process with everything else? they do and I have never had a problem doing it this way, but I do how I do and you do how you do. I appreciate the comment

Good vid! I don't think when you heat up the lids that it is for sterilization, because you are not suppose to boil them. You heat them in hot water to help soften the gasket to aide in the sealing, but I'm glad it's working for you your way. Keep up the vids.
PS What?! no scraps for Harely?

@1Uncommonfemale my opninion is that they soften up when heating up...of all my canning have only had one jar go bad.

Great Video, but sharpening your knife over food is not good, you can get metal dust in your food.
