In this lesson you will learn about A shape major barre chords, how they are formed, and tips for getting the fingers in the right place and all the notes clear.

Taught by Justin Sandercoe.

Full support at the justinguitar web site where you will find hundreds of lessons on a wide range of subjects, and all the scales and chords that you will ever need! There is a great forum too to get help, no matter what the problem.

And it is all totally free, no bull. No sample lessons, no memberships, no free ebook. Just tons of great lessons :)

To get help with this lesson (and for further info and tabs), find the Lesson ID in the video title (like ST-667 or whatever) and then look it up on the Lesson Index page of justinguitar.com

Have fun :)

  • Hey. What do you think about using the pinky instead of the 3rd finger?

  • I play the Bb (Bd,D,F) with the moved A shape, until it becomes impossible higher up the board due to space, generally with a full barre across, all 6 strings, then you can play Bb/F or Bb, and the bottom string(F). The guy who teaches my kids is able to do this shape or the movable A shape. but his finger is so flexible/deformed he's able to barre the 3,4,5, without touching the bottom string.

  • Justin _ I keep muting either the the 1st or 2nd string

  • U R Great - So many guitar teachers on the net - but u r the only one I have seen that really builds a foundation that a student can build on.

  • Justine, For E major, there is no gap between the barre and fingers but for A major, you have 2nd fret open. why?

  • Justin you're so awesome!! But seriously my 4th finger knuckle doesnt bend like that!!!

  • love the accent....

  • For the ones who can't manage to do it with 1 vinger,

I actually use 2 fingers to press the D G B snares, just add your pinky finger. to mute the B

  • Fantastic!
