FFIX E2PG - Part 59a: Descent into the Iifa Tree

Most guides don't even make mention of the Healing Rod here. You need to hit the switch on the third screen from the elevator, then backtrack to the second screen to pick it up.

While you're doing this, throw a Peridot on Zidane to set him up for Lucky 7s (if you have 9 HP of course). If Zidane takes a single hit the attempt is over, but that's how it usually is.

I was very lucky to make it through with only four encounters, one less than the target rate. That should make up for one of the extras I had back in the beginning. The forced battles on the leaf went very well. Overall a very good run :)

OMG! stupid zombie's stop wasting my elixirs :( I once again used a method I just came up with; I waited untill one of the Zombies used either Roulette (on themselves) or Melt (I encountered 2 Zombies) then I just killed off 2 of my characters and hoped the last Zombie to use Melt on the last character I had and not on Zidane.

I just reseted because I just couldn't bear to waste an elixir :( I revived Vivi and healed Zidane with a peridot since he had nothing to do then used flee saving myself an elixir. Took a few seconds longer than your/atomos' method but atleast i got to keep my elixir!
