@Angelspeaks2u Of course...the reason I converse is to be enlightened and enlighten others...What I know about the LDS is what their prophets have said and what their scriptures teach...I don't judge an individual believer or a group of believers I judge the doctrines of a religion and their ultimate teachings. A mormon once challenged me to read the BoM and I did and I'm interested in challenging mormons to study the BoM when they say the Bible teaches the same thing..they don't
@ssuperbill2 I am happy to converse with you but can we agree that our discusion is to be friendly? do you or what do you know about lds beliefs about the plan of salvatin? i think i know why this confuses you.
The ultimate difference is, can you earn your salvation, or is it "not of works lest any man should boast" Eph2:8-9....Mormons, like Muslims believe they can tip the scale in their favor to please God to earn a place in heaven but the Bible teaches that our "good deeds and efforts" is like a child rubbing around a grease stain to try and get it out...to no avail. They are useless in our salvation.
@Angelspeaks2u There is a distinct difference though...the book of mormon says Jesus can't save you until your perfect and the Bible teaches that you can't be perfect without Jesus. Good works are an outflowing of our faith not a requirement for our salvation. Titus 3:5-7 leading up to verse 8 which you quoted says "5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy......"
@ssuperbill2 That is not what we believe. just like it says in John 3:16-17 we are saved through Jesus. But it's our works that we're judged on. Gal5;13 serve one another. Eccl12:14God shall judge every work. Titus3:8becareful to maintain good works. Tim1:5commandment of charity. 1cor13:2 and have not charity i am nothing.Mat25:34-46inherit the kingdom. Luke10:30-37 good samaritan. Mat5:16That they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. Take the time 2 read them all.
@Angelspeaks2u The problem is the Bible teaches things like Eph 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-13, Galatians 3:11 That we are saved by faith alone...not works. Yet LDS teach we can only be saved by Jesus after all we can do and once we are worthy we can receive Him. The problem is when are we perfect and keep the whole law? When have we done all we can do? Never, we can never deserve Jesus salvation....Read moroni 10:32, 2nephi 25:23
@ssuperbill2 the mormon teaches the same, u need only one baptism anywhere, but the church does provide a place. you DON'T have to be married to live with God. and some people may think that our scriptures contradict the bible but we believe in the bible, maybe we just interpret some of it differently. and keep in mind that over the thousands of years that the bible was being made and transfered and translated lots of stuff could have been easily lost.
@ssuperbill2 Hi, first i have 2 say about this video when he talks about "good feelings" instincts r a God given gift, to help us with things that r dangerous or just don't understand. Those good feelings r the holy spirit, the spirit will go where there is truth& ther is some truth in lots of religion,&thats why u will feel it in many churches. i've heard a couple people say that when they prayed about theB.O.M.they felt nothing, but then even days later when they needed it the most the got it.
@everafter0123 The Bible teaches 1 baptism done anywhere, mormons teach at least 1 baptism is required in their temple to live with God. Contradiction mate...
