my corolla's timing chain tensioner o-ring is leaking. Dealership quoted me $120 to fix that. I was trying to do it by myself and cannot find the location of the tensioner. I have 2000 corolla, plz help me if you can. Thank you

This is a timing 'belt', or not a timing 'chain' ?

Your title is misleading, is this the sound the engine makes after the repair or was this before the repair? My 2000 Corolla is making the same noise at 120,000 km about 75,000 miles. I'm hoping I just have to replace the tensioner to and not a full replacement of the timing chain and guides.

But I see what you meant, I don't show the timing chain tensioner in the video.
I was just showing the sound of the engine after it was replaced.
The tensioner is on the rear passenger side of the engine.

Alex - The 1zz-fe engines in newer Corollas such as the 03-08 models are equipped with a timing chain and a timing chain tensioner.
The engine does have an accessory belt on the passenger side that runs the alternator, a/c, water pump, etc.

Hi RoadRunner,
I think the title was very clear.
It includes the phrase "After Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement".
This is how the engine sounded after the old leaking tensioner was removed and replaced with a brand new tensioner and sealed with RTV silicone.
Check the 2nd link in my description for the full how-to guide.
Thanks

P.S. The link to the how-to guide for changing out and sealing the tensioner is in the description field above.

The car has 80k now. My auto mechanic friend noticed the slow leak when we changed the front brake pads a few weeks ago.
