@dueaug132007 a serger is a machine that cuts and sews the fabric, it is mostly used for clothes and stretch material such as bathing suits and things like jersey knit, it sews the fabric more securely, you wrote this 2yrs ago so maybe you know about the serger more than I do :D, I bought one this year ( a Viking 4 thread serger) and have been using it for everything. But my sewing machine is what I use for all the detail and adding decorative touches, and adding trims :)

What is "serger"?" Im new to the whole sewing thing and want to start making bibs, booties, diaper covers, blankies and hats and ive come across a few terms which i dont know what they mean...

If you make a bib, you can also put a big pocket on the front of the bib to catch any food rolling down the baby's front. Also useful if you put a plastic lining so that you can just rinse out anything wet/any liquids.
:) Just something i remember from my baby sister's infant days. I hated when her shirt was clean enough, but everything rolled onto her pants. :{
