  • I believe you are missing the point of Plyometrics. True, Plyometrics that is. Without a explosive concentric contraction you are achieving nothing, other than teaching your body to stop but not go again. In almost every sport you need to stop and go.

  • @Z4N30 and I believe you need to educate yourself more. this is simply a variation of depth drops, which are one of only 2 "true plyometrics."

better force absorption is actually the trait that most separates great athletes from good ones. the people with great natural bounce possess great force absorption capabilities, which set the stage for powerful concentric contractions. in your terms, improving your "stop" will result in much better "go"

  • This isn't a plyometric exercise! There has to be a rapid and explosive concentric contraction and there isn't one, as he doesn't jump back up. Correct it will develop strength in controlling the landing as it is an eccentric exercise!!!!

  • what are the two original plyometric exercises? depth jumps and depth drops. depth drops have no concentric action, but they're one of the originals. shock lunges are just a variation

  • what exactly does this do to you? ive always been confused about these

  • basically it trains the ability to stop lengthening of the muscles at high speed. When you drop into your counter movement your muscles have to stop lengthening in order for your tendons to stretch and spring back. I'll write an article about it I guess
