  • March 31st 1976 is the last day of EL... April 1st first day of Conrail....

  • Nicely done, but its Pt Jervis New York.

  • if they made the EL routes for microsoft train simulator i would have my fictional railcorp operating the lines rebuilding the lines how they used to be a restore all EL loco's and rolling stock. my company would Preserve, Rebuild, Restore all of EL and Give it all to EL historical Society. I live in Orrville, Ohio and from what I herd CR switch Traffic off EL lines to the Akron Branch line Ex-PRR line into Orrville thats been gone since 98. good video and sad for the EL

  • @beatleman69 I'd have to dig up one of my old Conrail books to check, but I believe that in the original CR system plans, the USRA intended to give a portion of the Reading and most of the EL to Chessie System and Southern, but had to include it all in CR at the last minute because neither road could come to agreement with the EL/RDG unions and their insistence on keeping 5-man crews among other things. Before that, I think there was a proposal to merge EL/LV/RDG/CNJ/D&H at one time.

  • You missed the ex-EL Briar Hill shops in Youngstown, what remains of the fueling facility is there. Its a shame that the goverment couldn't have made to railroads out of the bankrupt railroads to balance the competition. I believe someone at the time wanted to do that but was shot down.

  • What happened to New York State?

  • If N&W had fully merged EL (it was owned by their Dereco subsidiary at the time), I think the northeastern RR map would be different than it is now.

  • Kenton,Marion,Mansfield, what about Galion? Just wishful thinking, awsome pics. I lived in Kenton and Galion during ELs last 6 years.

  • not I am coming home it is crazy train man
