I'm proud to say that I've been using Studio Vision on all of my compositions for many years, and hope to use it as long as I can. But, since the developers have all gone on to work for Apple, Digidesign, and others, is there really that much of a push to bring back Vision and OMS when you can run a perfectly good system with some old Apple hardware that can be gotten for cheap? There's no need to save Vision, it's still here! The best sequencer Ever! Amen!

Looks not bad, I remember also very interesting program on Amiga called Symphonie. Was also quite innovative with lots of possibilities, but needed a bit more "advanced approach" to this I think. BTW> how comes, that some corporations are killing so much of good software :/ so is it when the guys in ties are taking command over sciencists, engineer, pasionate people...

I still have it on a "vintage" Mac G3 (beige) running OS9, there's nothing out there that can replace this great program. It trully can do somethings that many other modern sequencers cannot do today

@keyzone72 It is old because they quit developing it. If re-worked to operate in OS X it would be better that anything out there.

How do you propose we save it? At this point I don't think the source code is that useful. It would need to be completely re-written for OSX. It seems pretty simple these days to hire someone to make an iPhone or iPad app, so perhaps with some sort of crowd funded effort we could hire someone to write it in a Mac OSX native format that could read old files and have the same look and feel. The only new features I think it may need is running modern VST/RTAS/AU plugins.
I went with pro tools, but as far as midi SVP 4.5 blows Cubase away. It is just the easiest way to deal with midi hands down. Can cubase operate a light board, play midi and 12 tracks of audio at the same time?

There were many offers to purchase the software from Gibson. Gibson claimed that they had lost the source code. Today, I think their wold be a way to crack into the source code and some clever programers could make a new SVP. I am not a programer, so I have no idea how hard it would be to reproduce SVP for Snow Leopard or how many programers it would take, or how long it would take,

Well, many studios are still using SVP for things that would take much longer to do on any of the modern software designed for midi and audio. SVP could still be a very useful product if the right people would upgrade it to work on modern computers and operating systems. Adding in all the features that are used in Logic and Pro Tools without changing the window and tools it already has.

Wow, it was way ahead of its time.
The title says, "Help Save It". How you gonna do that and why would you wanna do that? Don't you think your 20yrs too late?

Did you read the whole story? This is the only video of the product that was developed to be Studio Vision Pro. Gibson still owns the software. PROBABLY too late, but it is still used in many studios today. The audio is way out of date now, but it is still the best and easiest way to make music via MIDI. Nothing can touch it even though it was canned 9 years ago.
