The ark was not big enough to house "16,000 animals" and the people to care for them. According to the Bible the Ark would be as big as a modern day aircraft carrier and made out of wood. I am a Navy veteran. Trust me, you are not going to house that many animals AND the supplies it takes to care for them on a ship that size, especially with the open floor plan that it is said to have had. There would be mass chaos like you have never seen cramming them on top of each other like that.
