Good Cat Washing System

This didn't take long at all! It's the simplest and best idea I've ever had about washing the cat!

Ha! I just love all these comments that come in, they are hysterical. Good & questionable, I do appreciate them. Here is some stuff that wasn't in the video that might answer a couple questions:

- I did not wash him with that baby shampoo. It was just sitting there. The pet wash (purchased at Petco) was under the soapy side of the sink in case I needed to reach down for it. And even if I had used baby shampoo, this particular cat has had a total of 2 baths his entire life to date, I wouldn't call that prolonged use.

- He's fine with me holding him that way, he even gives me kisses while I do it normally. The reason he was meowing that way was because he watched me fill the sinks, and then when I reached for him he ran away. I started the video, and what you saw was my second attempt at collecting him. So the sound was the fear of the impending water that he already knew was coming.

- He knows how to wash himself LOL, that was the best of all. I live in a condo near a river on the side of a mountain, and directly outside my patio is lots of nature and dirt. Oberon escaped while stalking a particularly annoying squirrel & came back covered in dust. After a couple days I decided to help the guy out, and me, he smelled like river.

- Yes, this cat also exacts his revenge on those that make him unhappy. I once neglected his litter box until it was a few days overdue, and he urinated on my comforter, while I was sleeping under it. So yeah, I'm kind of afraid of him sometimes, he's creative.

Definitely don't wash cats by hand. They're much more suited to machine washing, preferably in a commercial sized machine, such as those found at a laundromat.

She's pretty old and weaker and was kind of in shock so she didn't put up as much as a struggle as I expected. I also made sure her claws were trimmed. It's really important to thoroughly rinse the shampoo away though, because what might seem like a little amount of shampoo is alot to such a small creature and could cause harm when they ingest it.

I washed my cat tonight for the first time ever. I have a tub/shower with glass doors so I got nekkid, started the shower (on the quietest, gentlist setting at a warm temp), snatched her up while she was dozing, ran into the tub and closed the doors. She was all frantic and everything about being trapped but I was right in there with her and maintaining eye contact with her and talking to her in a soothing voice throughout, so she didn't start yowling until I spent a few minutes rinsing her off.

Isn't she or he to old to be held like that I don't hold my cat like that because he is to heavy but he is only 5 months Hmmmmmmm

@tolip0 that is actually THE way to hold them without hurting. That is exactly how mom cats carry their babies. Instinctively cats calm down when being held like that. ;)

just put it in a kenal with soap already rubbed on then hoes the cat down with a fire hoes and then let it run around to dry off

Your cat stinks? You should see a veterinarian. Cats should never be dirty.

@katelagniappe hand held sprayer...never thought of that! thanks! and yes..hes holding the cat wrong. i feel so sorry for the kitty :(
