SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine- In recognition of Earth Day, Coast Guard crews stationed in Southwest Harbor participated in a roadside clean up April 24, 2009. About 12 Coast Guard members from more than four units in Southwest Harbor participated in the annual event in Acadia National Park and along Route 102.

Crews collected an estimated 600 pounds of trash including coffee cups, soda bottles, plastic bags, and old tires along a two-mile stretch of road between Southwest Harbor and Tremont. (U.S. Coast Guard video/Petty Officer 2nd Class Etta Smith)
