- How to make Crop Marks (without printing) in Adobe Illustrator CS4 & CS3 -

This tutorial (more like a quick tip) is more for Print Designers who need to layout multiple business cards on one sheet of paper (or something like that) for proofs.

Adobe Illustrator allows you to make the crop marks easily without having to go through the print dialog. You can definitely save time and money with this easy to use quick trick.

  • @royquinn thanks bro u were more useful than this whole video!!

  • Hmm I'm curious as to how so?...."Object - Expand Appearance" only allows the crop marks to be moved around independently and then you can group them back together (what they automatically let you do in CS3)....Its one minor step you can add to the end of the process.

If you don't like FREE tutorial videos - don't watch FREE tutorial videos. If you don't like these videos, don't watch these anymore. I am only trying to help people who appreciate that service.

  • After making crop marks in CS4. With the item selected, go to "Object - Expand Appearance".

This will allow you to edit your crop marks.

  • @royquinn1 Well if I forgot to mention this I apologize and thanks for pointing this out royquinn1

  • @rowan1802 So...You just cut from the edge of the crop marks without cutting all the way to the edge of the paper. This way, your design (business card etc) will just pop out and a hole will be left in the paper

  • Does anyone know a good way to cut up things with crop marks? After you cut in one direction (e.g. the top) the crop marks in the opposite direction have been cut off and can't be used.

  • Thanks. I learnt a few useful things. I had been looking for a way to get rid of the boxes. Object->expand from the comments is also helpful.

  • good work,

I saw 1:21, if you want copy like this just click Alt+mouse click and Drag, and then if you click Ctrl+D you can past directly in same fit.

  • ok they moved Crop Marks to effects menu, thats all I needed to know

  • thanx mate!

  • thank you men
