He means in response to Jerry Falwell who is a judgemental,holier than thou,CUNNING LIAR! Translation? Meaning if Jerry Falwell is going to "heaven" then he (Cronkite) would rather go to "hell" because who would want to be in a "heaven" such as Jerry Falwell! And people,LISTEN TO ALL OF THIS SPEECH! We live in Terrible Times. Times of Tribulation but Mr. Cronkite lived through and reported HONESTLY the TRUTH as best he could. in way more terrible times then we could EVER even imagine! Did we live through the Nazi Regime? The Trials of Hess and Hitlers' other Henchmen? God is going to come again and He's not just going to Judge the individual but also the Nations! So we should just look the other way?
