I thought O'barry admitted to not knowing how to train and could only starve his animals to make them work. Regardless, hard to imagine anything but ratings canceling a TV show.

Ric O'Barry used to train the dolphins used to play Flipper and the reason the series stopped was because the dolphins became too dangerous to be in the water with. DOLPHINS ARE NOT TOYS. They are not all smiling, gentle, angelic beings. They are WILD animals that need to be RESPECTED.
